Integrity, Respect, Professionalism, and Unity.
This Office sends new deputy sheriffs to a Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) basic deputy training academy. The basic deputy training academy’s program certifies deputies in corrections, court services, and civil process. This training includes firearms training and emergency vehicle operations, areas in which deputies must develop and maintain a specific level of proficiency. Pending successful completion of the basic deputy training academy, deputies will then complete mandatory field training on a security team in the jail. Failure to pass any portion of the basic deputy training academy or initial employee training is grounds for immediate termination.
